    Solid performer and a bargain

The IsoTek EVO3 Polaris Mains Power Block is an excellent mains conditioner considering it is only IsoTek’s entry-level conditioner. This very reasonably priced conditioner will filter out the usual culprits that dirty power supplies, but I have found it to produce slightly better results than a rivals power conditioner priced nearly twice as much. When replacing the aforementioned conditioner with the EVO3 Polaris I noticed slight improvements on sound quality, but the improvement was very noticeable and hugely impressive when compared to my system powered without using any conditioner. I used this conditioner to supply a Mac Mini, DAC, power amp and subwoofer. Immediately I observed a tighter all-round audio performance, with more detail and a deeper, solid and rhythmic base. And this is before I used MCRU’s Excelium DC Blocking Mains Lead David sold me to supply it, which just to let you know made the same audio improvements jump many levels higher and seems to be a excellent partner for the EVO3 Polaris. But if your budget won’t stretch that far this conditioner still is an excellent performer and a real bargain.

Having now split up my Home entertainment into separate parts, I was looking at this block purely to power the AV section only?
Even on first use the quality is comparable to that when used with an Aquarius conditioner that also included my Audio set up, good clean picture, crisp detail especially on HD broadcast but still more than acceptable on SD and DVD/Blu-ray playback!!
Considering the fact that this is only the “base” model of the Evo3 range this is a more than capable performer in it’s own right, build quality is without question tho not much by way of filtering/conditioning which is a bit of a shame in relation to it’s price, and, to its bigger brother’s spec, but still a very much recommended purchase for anyone not looking to spend the high amounts on mains conditioners!!
Difficult to tell just how good the audio is against my Aquarius as TV sound is not particularly good at the best of times but I certainly haven’t noticed anything major going wrong in this department.
Only had this about two weeks now so it is settling in nicely and I don’t have any complaints about it’s performance, it does exactly what I’d hoped it would, no apparent drop in performance from what I’m used to, so on that score I’m very happy with this purchase with the only downside for me being the price, it’s a little too high for what you get?

I bought this for a 2nd system that was using a Supra MD06/SP mains filter before the Isotek. I thought the Supra was doing an ok job……Until I installed the Isotek EVO 3 Polaris that is. The jump in quality was quite significant, to say the least. I already own an Isotek Sigmas in my main system so I knew I would be getting an improvement, but as I sais I didn’t expect just how much better the Evo 3 would be over the Supra. I have a Naim Nait 5i mk2 in the 2nd system and according to most people the Naim gear only improves with Naims own gear…….well believe me this is not the case. I’m using Furutech Alpha 3 cable from the Isotek Evo 3 and the gains are huge……soundstage, dynamics, detail, all aspects of listening pleasure have taken a huge leap forward. I suppose this is a double review as the Furutech Alpha 3 really needs to be heard to hear what a massive difference it makes to the sound, but when combined with the EVO3……sublime. You can buy either with confidence as the sound per £ is huge.

    Affordable upgrade!!.

Having taken receipt of my ISOTEK EVO3 POLARIS Mains Power Block I quickly hooked it up to my Cyrus Based Hifi System. I had already had a demo of ISOTEK’S Mains Products at the 2014 Sound and Vision Show in Bristol a couple of weeks ago and had met the Owner and his very knowledgable staff, they were immensely helpful.
Having upgraded my cabling with the MCRU ULTIMATE range, plus a couple of MCRU Mains Leads I was looking forward to experiencing the sort of improved dynamic quality sound reproduction I was exposed to at the ISOTEK Stand up at the Bristol Show. I must admit I was not disappointed, there was an immediate comprehensive enhancement of the output at all levels of the sound spectrum, I was particularly impressed with the way everything everything came together, in a more purer coherent manner in an effortless articulate form that one would expect from a far more expensive mains product.
On the AV side of the system there was also a very satisfying improvement in visual quality and tonal coloration, which for me was less important but none the less a subtle indicator of the capabilities of the ISOTEK EVO3 POLARIS Mains Power Block.

I was a sceptic. Now I am converted.

I was a mains-trickery sceptic, though I am a supporter of good power supplies, and I am a relatively hi-end HiFi owner (including Naim). I have been trying to improve on over tight and lean bass and some hardness to my sound and I had tried all sorts of things to cure these problems. In the end I thought a decent mains block may be worth a try. I decided not to go in at the bottom end and didn’t want to spend mega bucks – I was unsure of the benefits. Enter the Polaris.
While many of the other things I tried with interconnects and PSUs gave me improved detail and insight, it was the Polaris that evened out the tonal balance of my system. There is a richness to the sound and improved perception of bass notes and textures that was missing, without the system becoming over warm and losing high-end clarity (interconnects couldn’t solve this conumdrum).
I used the Polaris on its own first before adding shielded mains cables. The improvement was apparent just by using the Polaris. I’ll try to pitch in some reviews of the cables/plugs I bought from MCRU (Belden, Iego, MCRU mains) – they have helped but I think you need the foundation of something like the Polaris to build around.
Buy or not to buy: buy – this is a value piece of kit given the benefits I have achieved.
Negative – the blue power LED is way over bright and lights up the wall at night – you can mask it with a small piece of insulation tape.
